I must really like second place... Anyway, this was a nice race course and the weather was great. The hills were challenging and the distance was appropriate (45-47miles?). I thought that I was going to solo this race for a while, but Shari road hard and we worked together until the end. She did a great job with taking pulls, cornering and finishing strong. Good job Shari on your first RR!

I finished behind the field as the result of a flat tire and poor race support. I hit a rock while riding in the peloton on a false flat with about 15-17 miles to go. I'm really upset about it because I was really feeling good and I wanted to post a good result.
After fixing the flat with the tube that I brought, I proceded to try to catch a group. I passed a small group of Cat 5s and they drafted me until we hit the second big hill and then they fell off the back. When I was finished, I was so tired, that I decided not to TT on Sunday.
With a quick wheel change, it wouldn't have been so bad.

The race from h_ _ _: started off dehydrated, got dropped on 1st climb about 15 miles in, not feeling well--nearly passed out on 2nd climb, ran into a Cyclesport rider who was lost, got more lost (no cell phone and map was useless), stopped to ask for directions, left leg cramping, ran out of Gatorade, getting hungry, stopped again to ask directions, borrowed $1 to extract Mtn Dew from vending machine (thanks Ryan from Cyclesport--I still owe you), finally found park entrance, other leg cramping on last incline, got off the bike, got back on, odometer says 54 miles (race route was 47 miles), parking lot empty, ouch! There were only 5 in the women's field (the others were from Miami U. and DePaul U.), so we were thrown in with the 4/5 men. Congrats to K. and S. for finishing the race.
